View and change Yahoo Search preferences

Unless you're using Advanced Search, you use Yahoo Search preferences every time you search with Yahoo.

When you're signed in to your Yahoo account, your preferences are accessible from any computer or mobile device. If you're not signed in, your preferences will still be saved—just only to the computer or device you're currently using.

Access your Yahoo Search preferences

Depending on the type of device that you're using, the steps to access your preferences are different.

On a desktop or laptop

  1. Sign in to Yahoo.
  2. Enter a search in the search box, and then click Search.
  3. On the search results page that displays, mouse over the Settings icon Image of the Settings icon..
  4. Click Preferences.

On a mobile device

  1. Sign in to Yahoo.
  2. Enter a search term.
  3. Tap Search.
  4. Scroll to the bottom and tap Settings.

Change search preferences

  • Languages - Click Languages to adjust your language settings.
  • Search history - Click Search History to view and manage it.
  • SafeSearch - Filters explicit, adult-oriented content out of your search results.
  • Display and Layout - Select how results open in your web browser and change the number of results per page.
  • SearchScan - Change how SearchScan alerts you.
